Drifting / Chania & Kypseli (2017-19)

Site-specific actions and video works
Drifting Chania was realized in 2017 in collaboration with Dance Days Chania and was presented as part of Athens Video Dance Project 8.
Experimentally employing the practices of “situational drifting” (fr. dérive), psychogeography, and détournement, we mapped two heterogeneous urban neighborhoods: Splantzia in Chania and a section of Kypseli, around Fokionos Negri. Using the human step as a metric tool, we created subjective maps, recorded our gaze, and partially disrupted the quietness of the streets by introducing an erratic kinetic behavior—a temporary social dance, dispersed among the wanderers, which unfolded and was gradually exhausted as it moved through the streets.
